Bluetooth switcher Gnome panel applet
I have wrote about turning off bluetooth and simple shell scripts to do it. Because we have a single switch for wifi and bluetooth, I have wrote a simple gnome panel applet to switch bluetooth off and on when I need it, just in one click.
When bluetooth is turned off the icon is gray, when you click on it, it switches to color and turn on bluetooth, click again to turn off.
If peopele need it, I can package and write a little howto about installing it
Why not. Seems neat enough.
Could you even package it to .deb(?) so that one could just use package manager to install it? (after downloading the package of course)
Btw, when you say i.e. you don’t have simultaneous 2D and 3D acceleration working, could you also write how to test if it’s working or not? I’m running Ibex atm. and would like to test if the acceleration is working ok on the system side, since I will be working with hardware acceleration with Java.
Excellent blog, btw!
cheers. M

Mikko Tikkanen, when you running glxgears in terminal window, you can check FPS there. I have run it on live cd today and got only 300-350 fps, but with acceleration there should be more that 2000 even 4000 maybe.
Or you can try to enable Compiz in Appearance settings on Visual effects tab, you can’t enable it without acceleration.
I don’t know how to do a .deb package for now, but sure, I’ll do it in future =)
jungar, yea after 8.10 release, i’ll do it

Hi,
I’m interesting to get a .deb package too… I’m not using a Vaio but try Ubuntu 8.10 on a Samsung NC10 (netbook)

Hi,
The bluetooth in my Sony Vaio FW is not working on ubuntu 9.04.
When I try to use the bluetooth applet to search devices, it states that there is no bluetooth adapter enabled.
Does anybody know how to troubleshoot the bluetooth in Ubuntu?
Thanks in advance!

My Sony VGN-TZ37GN (Ubuntu 9.04) shows that bluetooth is enabled, but it sees no bluetooth devices.
No camera seem to be installed either.
Any suggestions?

Hi egaistek!
Perhaps is there a .deb package for the 10.04?
(Fw-21E)
Thank you!
