Motion Eye Webcam
Well it just works =) I’m able to see a picture with Skype and xawtv.
I have thought we need some special drivers, but found that it works by default.
UPD: Not work in Flash. Skype can’t use it anymore, just saying there is no devices… strange.
Hi Egaistek,
Did it work for you in 2.6.24-16-generic kernel? For me it just works under server kernel.

Hi again,
I finally managed to run webcam under flash applications following this blog:
http://weblogs.inf.udp.cl/nboettcher/23/07/2008/webcam-v4l2-funcionando-en-paginas-con-flash-en-ubuntu-linux/
The solution is to create a virtual V4L driver forwarding V4L2. It solved flash problems (now I can use videconference in IMO!!) but I am still unable to run cam through gnome apps.
I hope it helps even if it’s written in spanish!

Hi, I am having issues with webcam in skype. It’s on an fw11e. The resolution is too low it seems the picture covers only a part of the full video (only the top left square of the picture can be seen). Do you have any idea why?
In VLC the webcam works without any problems (high res and full area can be seen).
Thanks

I seem to be experiencing this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libv4l/+bug/571539
On lucid with VGN-FW31E
